Each day a new post will allow you to comment on how God is teaching you and how your focus on prayer is making a difference. Feel free to share prayer requests. If they're for another person, please have their permission before posting. And share how God is answering your prayers as well.
Let's use this daily and regularly to encourage one another!
If like me, you use The Purpose Driven Life devotional, you know that it isn't sent out on Saturdays and Sundays. So what do you do? At the prayer conference this weekend we were told about a devotional online at blackaby.org. I encourage you to check it out. Today's entry fit perfect with today's sermon. Isn't that a coincidence? Not. [If you've tried the link to blackaby.org before, it is working now.]
Also, click here to find out how to comment on the blog if you're not sure how to do that. We want to hear from you!
He has rescued us from a terrible death, and he will rescue us in the future. We are confident that he will continue to rescue us, since you are also joining to help us when you pray for us. Then many people will thank God for the favor he will show us because many people prayed for us. - 2 Corinthians 1:10-11

As I prayed this morning for "Sunday" things I also prayed for those believers and church members who have "lost their way". A couple of young people were brought to my mind, and I ask that God would convict them by any means necessary and bring them home to Him.
Also for those who are hurting and as a result are hurting those closest to them. Help them see that their personal pain can be healed at the cross if only they'll just take it there.
My devotional this morning was so in sync with today's sermon. Here's part of what it said:
"It is sometimes easier to handle poverty or weakness than wealth or strength. Poverty causes us to recognize our need for God. Prosperity persuades us that we no longer require Him. Scripture holds several examples of those who assumed they were self-sufficient, only to realize their dire poverty apart from God. Samson was the strongest person alive, but he forgot that his strength came from God. Once God removed his strength, Samson was reduced to a pitiful slave. Saul was the first king of Israel, yet when God removed His Spirit from this proud monarch, he became a paranoid, petty man, seeking counsel from the occult.
Be careful how you handle the success God gives you! As you enjoy His blessings in your family, your business, or your ministry, keep in mind that you are an instrument in the hands of the Master."

40 Days of Prayer on the road. . .
This morning I prayed for NHC's worship gatherings. My prayer is that those sitting in the congregation will worship God in spirit and in truth and those that are just checking the "God thing" out will see the passion His children have for Him. I also prayed that God's word would fall on hearts that are ready to put His word in to action in their lives.
I fear that for most of my life I heard the word of God and had knowledge but never heard the word and applied it to my life. There is a huge difference in knowledge and application.
Which do you have/do?
This Sunday, the 21st in our "40 days of Prayer", the God name I am focusing on is Jehovah-Shammah, which is "God is present with me",so I am never alone. A year ago this week our daughter- in- law, Carolyn, had a lung biopsy which led to a diagnosis of Pulmonary Sarcoidosis . After a year of treatment she is now free of the condition, for which we PTL!! While out at Duke with Tricia, I met a family who were there caring for a daughter ,same age as our Carolyn, who had undergone a double lung transplant for the same condition. I am so thankful God had another plan for Carolyn... one transplant a year is enough for this family!!We are so blessed!!
I was encouraged in my quiet time today to trust God with every detail of my life. One of our deepest prayer concerns has been for our son-in-law and we have been praying daily that his health situation would improve. Today God reminded me of his love by pointing me once again to Phil 4:6-8;to be anxious for nothing and to trust Him for everything...Later in the morning, we got a call from our daughter, Megan, with a direct answer to our prayers. John's leukemia is on it's way to remisson. God had given her the same verses today as they went to the doctor's for the results of his latest blood work. It was God's word and His presence that has given us a real sense of peace during this past 5 weeks. By no means is John cured. But God IS IN CONTROL...of that we are certain.
