Don't forget that tomorrow night First Wednesday begins at 6:30 sharp! Worship, prayer, communion, challenge. It's for the whole family.
I will surely not stop praying for you, because that would be sinning against the LORD. I will teach you what is good and right. You must honor the LORD and truly serve him with all your heart. Remember the wonderful things he did for you! - 1 Samuel 12:23-24

Sick Missionaries!!
Hi there!
Stan and Sandy Anonby have the flu. It's pretty bad, with fever, chills, and fatigue. It seems like most of the missionaires and folk in Vianopolis, Brazil, are under the weather. It's been lasting about a week. Thank you for praying for us, as our nerves are frayed.
Please pray for Jillian, our 20-year-old daughter in Victoria, Canada. She's attending university there and she'd like to meet some Christian friends her own age. She's lonely.

Yesterday I challenged us to pray about ways we can be radically generous. I hope we're all doing just that - seeking God's direction in how we can do a God-sized thing right now to meet someone else's need.
Therefore, make it your habit to confess your sins to one another and to pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. - James 5:16

I can't imagine, but I can pray
In church this morning I asked you to pray for the family of a 13 year old girl named Chelsea. About 3:30 this morning Chelsea, whose family had just arrived yesterday for a week of vacation, went into cardiac arrest and by the time the first responders arrived had slipped into eternity.
I was called by Dare Co. Communications and asked to respond to Outer Banks Hospital. There I met a family in disbelief that such a thing could happen, but with a belief that God is in control. We prayed; quoted Scripture and I watched them grieve over the body of their daughter, sister and cousin.
Not only can you pray for them, but these kinds of emergency calls are tough on the first responders (in this case the Kitty Hawk Fire Dept., Police and Dare Co. EMS) and the emergency room staff. The death of a child hits them hard. And as many times as they have to deal with these kinds of things doesn't make it any easier.

Today is Sunday. Be sure to pray for our worship together to honor Him and for our willingness to open our hearts up to acting upon His Word.
So many give of themselves every Sunday in service to the rest of us. Pray for their ministry today to rise to a higher level than ever before.
Is anyone of you sick? He should call for the elders of the church, and they should pray for him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith£ will save the person who is sick. The Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed any sins, he will be forgiven. - James 5:14-15

Two Updates: Greg, Mike and Dale
I just received a call from Greg Avery in Baytown, TX. Yesterday they fed 35,000 and are providing food for other kitchens that aren't able to get food any other way. He's physically wiped out, living on 3 hours of sleep/day. The good news is that he's headed home tomorrow. Pray for a safe trip for him. He'll be driving the 1400 miles.
Mike is working very hard there as well. He's cooking and training others to do the same. Another 175 volunteers are coming in today. Mike should be flying home Sunday.
Dale Hamilton and his batallion leave for Iraq on Sunday. Nancy emailed this to me:
Would you mind posting a reminder to pray for Dale and all the soldiers? Also please pray for Emily, on the outside she is fine, but on the inside she is having a very hard time with all of this. I know that Sunday will be a very hard day for all of us...it might even be a bit tearful.

Comfortable
At the prayer conference we hosted this past weekend, one of the speakers made the comment that, the vast majority of the time, we modern-day Christians pray for things that will make us (and those we're praying for) comfortable. I've spent the past few days listening to the prayer requests of others, and being more conscious than usual of the things that I spend praying for.
So true.
Yet, it's almost always the uncomfortable that moves us toward the life that God wants for us...a life of radical generosity. If that's true, shouldn't we be spending more time praying for the uncomfortable things of life, knowing that God will always provide what we need to keep us in the middle of His will and purpose for our lives?

Where Does God Fit in the Economic Crisis?
Burnie Staples offers the following insightful reflection on our nation's current financial status and how we should pray.
I have watched with great interest, the ups and downs of the stock market, prices of oil, and vast fluctuations in the US and world economy along with the predictions of what bank will be the next to fall. I also think it’s interesting to watch the politicians, the presidential race, and all that regalia as they point fingers at the opposite party, in an attempt to “fix blame” for the financial mess that the US is in, along with pretty much the rest of the world, excluding most of the OPEC alliance.
The world just doesn’t “get it”. Since recorded history, including the biblical accounts of man, our world runs in cycles. There are good times, There are bad times. They have been around always. In the biblical times, they called them “famines or droughts” instead of recession or depression. But the effect was about the same. Bad times. God always had a plan to see his people through the famine.
Today, our society and culture think we are smart enough to control everything. So when the economy isn’t great, we look for someone to blame. We refuse to acknowledge that we aren’t in control. As I write this, some of the (supposedly) smartest economic people in the world are furiously trying to craft an economic bail out plan that will work to solve the financial issues our country and the world faces right now. God may bring our economy down to it’s knees or He may not, but whatever happens, he is in control.
Not Wall Street.
Not Washington.
Not Warren Buffett.
Not Senators Obama or McCain.
In September 2001, when our nation was reeling from the 9/11 attacks, our churches were filled, and the US congress prayed together, publicly. How soon those pleas to our God fell by the wayside. Maybe God is once again wanting our Nation’s attention and using this, yet another crisis to call out to our nation and even to the world, “I am in control”.
God teach us to rely on you for everything in our lives, including our finances. Teach our leaders to be your servants, first. Give us wisdom as a nation to make choices that will honor you and that are wise.
Proverbs 19:21 says, "Many are the plans in a human heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails."

Don't forget to get with your neighbors Wednesday night and pray for your neighborhood.
Yes, you will be enriched so that you can give even more generously. And when we take your gifts to those who need them, they will break out in thanksgiving to God. So two good things will happen—the needs of the Christians in Jerusalem will be met, and they will joyfully express their thanksgiving to God. You will be glorifying God through your generous gifts. For your generosity to them will prove that you are obedient to the Good News of Christ. And they will pray for you with deep affection because of the wonderful grace of God shown through you.- 2 Corinthians 9:11-14

He has rescued us from a terrible death, and he will rescue us in the future. We are confident that he will continue to rescue us, since you are also joining to help us when you pray for us. Then many people will thank God for the favor he will show us because many people prayed for us. - 2 Corinthians 1:10-11

The verses below reflect the passion Paul had for the Jewish people to know Christ. Remember that Jesus came to them first.
Dear brothers and sisters, the longing of my heart and my prayer to God is that the Jewish people might be saved. I know what enthusiasm they have for God, but it is misdirected zeal. For they don’t understand God’s way of making people right with himself. Instead, they are clinging to their own way of getting right with God by trying to keep the law. They won’t go along with God’s way. For Christ has accomplished the whole purpose of the law. All who believe in him are made right with God. -Romans 10:1-4

These all continued with one accord in prayer £and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers. - Acts 1:12-14

Greg Avery on Nightline tonight?
Greg called me an hour ago to say he was interviewed by ABC and could be on Nightline tonight from Baytown, TX. Greg is leading a feeding team, delivering 80,000 meals per day to survivors of Ike.
He told me he said, "Hey to Nags Head Church" on camera. But then, there are the editors...
Pray for Greg and all those from many agencies helping the victims of the hurricane. And pray for their witness for Jesus to be clear.

More on Ike relief - Updated news from Greg Avery in the comments
From NC Baptist Men Disaster Relief...
"All three of our (NC Baptist) large feeding units will be set up in Baytown, Texas to assist with Hurricane Ike disaster relief efforts there. The combined capacity of all three feeding units is 70,000+ meals per day. Teams and equipment are traveling today and plan to start serving meals tomorrow (Tuesday). Lots of our other equipment and volunteers are also traveling to Baytown, Texas including tanker units, generator units, shower units, laundry units, etc. We anticipate sending recovery volunteers at a later time. We will update you when we are ready to send recovery volunteers and teams.
Please pray for the victims of Hurricane Ike and for the volunteer as they seek to serve them. Pray for safety for the volunteers as they travel and as they work.
For regular updates go to our website."

Two making a difference in Ike's wake
The video and pictures tell part of the story of the Tysonesque punch Ike delivered to the Gulf Coast. For many it is total destruction of all their lives built. For others it is major life interruption. For God and His people it is an window of opportunity to act in Jesus' name.
I know two guys who are doing just that.
Greg Avery is one of our own at NHC. He and Cathy volunteer a large part of their time and their income to serving the victims of disasters via the work of NC Baptist Men's Disaster Relief team. Truly Greg and Cathy are living out the vision of Nags Head Church in sending out missionaries. Greg's somewhere down there right now. He has been in Louisiana, but his last communication with me indicated he was likely headed to Texas. Right now he's involved in the provision of feeding thousands of meals every day to those without the ability to fend for themselves.
Glen Sartain is the other guy I know. Four years ago, right after Hurricane Isabel hit us, Glen preached at NHC while I was on a sabbatical. And prior to that he led a Transitioning conference we hosted along with Dan Southerland.
Glen lives in Houston and chose to ride out the storm. I thought he was nuts. He and I were actually chatting via Facebook while Ike was coming down on them. But checking in on Glen yesterday I found him doing two things. First he was clearing debris in his neighborhood. Then later he was cooking for his neighbors. They have no electricity, so my hunch is that Glen either has a generator or a gas grill and was hosting a "post hurricane block party", emptying out his freezer and feeding his neighbors.
Both guys are going to see God use their efforts into the lives of hurting people and produce a harvest because they were willing to do whatever it takes, even in the hardest of times.
Thanks Greg and Glen for your witness and your example to us. God give you safety and bless you in ways you never imagined.
If you want to go to the Gulf and help follow the link above to NC Baptist Men (women can go as well!). Or if you want to give a special offering to support those who are going, make a check out to NHC and indicate it is for the hurrican disaster relief effort and we'll see that it gets into the hands of those who are serving.

Praying for our local governments
Pray for rulers and for all who have authority so that we can have quiet and peaceful lives full of worship and respect for God. 3This is good, and it pleases God our Savior, 4who wants all people to be saved and to know the truth.(1 Timothy 2:2-4)
Wednesday night you're encouraged to gather at your local town hall/county municipal building and pray for our government leaders. Since we can't go to Raleigh or Washington, don't forget to pray for our state and national leadership as well.
With elections less than two months away these are important times to pray for our governmental leadership.
Meet at your town hall's flag pole at 6:30. Come prepared with the names of your commissioners, town managers and mayor. Take the time to look up (if you don't already know them) the names of your state representatives as well as our governor, congressional representatives and senators. Of course you'll want to include our President, VP and the Cabinet, too. Don't forget judges and Supreme Court justices.

A Praise from the Anonbys - our missionaries in Brazil
I've got a praise. Our girl Raquel, who is 15, had an accident a week ago. She is alright now, but she did fall from a tree. She was picking flowers from a tree and the limb snapped and she landed on her back on part of a tree limb. She was at least 12 feet high (or higher). She went by ambulance to the Anapolis hospital (one hour away) and was admitted for 2 nights. No fractures but bruising along your left lumbar area. If she landed on a limb across her spine, there could have been more serious problems. She is wearing a supportive belt which helps with pain. We see the doc next week and see if she will need physio.
She is now out with friends enjoying all the extra attention. She said she will make sure all the boys help her with her books and backpacks etc. She is having fun with this.
Thanks for keeping us in your prayers.

Hurricane Ike
Before we start complaining about the jump in gas prices or even that gas may be rationed, and the inconvenience that will cause us, let's turn our thoughts to the potential devastation to the Texas coast this storm will bring.
And let's pray for all those who live in this hurricane's path. Remember Jesus' words to "Do unto others...".
Let's also not forget to pray for those already crushed by recent storms, especially in Haiti. The story there is particularly grim. Over 1000 have died in that country from hurricanes this month.
So please today and tomorrow be sure to use your prayer time to remember those affected by these storms.

Meet our newest missionaries: Adam and Melissa Hoffman
Hello Nags Head Church!
Melissa and I are glad to re-introduce ourselves to the community. I attended Nags Head Church back when the little white building was all that was there. I was primarily involved in the high school youth group (as many in the youth group introduced me to Christ.) After graduating high school in 2002, I earned two bachelor degree's (Psychology & Sociology) from the University of North Carolina. My wife Melissa (a native from Hatteras) and I were married in August of 2005. Since then we have been preparing for full-time service with the U.S. Center for World Mission an agency that focuses on mobilization, training, strategy, publications and networking. We are currently at the base of the USCM working with a ministry called INSIGHT.
Since 2005, we knew God was calling us to a role in mobilization, "to see people open their eyes to what God is doing in the world and how they can have a strategic part in reaching those who have no access to the gospel." Over the past year God has been refining this vision and has shown us that the most strategic group of people to influence to be world changers are college students. We have a passion for college mobilization and helping them to gain a vision for the nations. This past spring we moved from Durham NC to Pasadena CA in March to work with INSIGHT.
INSIGHT (INtensive Study of Integrated Global History and Theology) is a one year college program designed to give students an overview of how God has been working throughout history to spread His glory, and gives them a chance to see how they can have a role in completing the task. And students can receive up to 32 hours of transferrable credit to take with them as they finish their degree. We love working with college students and helping them to wrestle with deep worldview & theological issues.
Prayer Requests
*Pray for the 15 students enrolled in the INSIGHT program. Specifically that they would be open to what God is teaching them and they would catch the vision of reaching all peoples with the gospel.
*Pray that God will guide us in our relationships with the students, that we would be able to speak truth into their lives and be good role models for them as World Christians.
*Pray for us that we would be renewed and strengthened in our knowledge and understanding of our God.
*Pray for the expansion of the INSIGHT program to locations across the U.S. Locations attempting to start within the next few years: Detroit, MI; Seattle, WA; Gainesville, FL; Durham, NC.
*Pray for the program that started in Ohio, that the community would catch the vision and the program would flourish. Pray for us as we visit this location at the end of September.

None of us will ever forget where we were 7 years ago today. Nor should we forget the valiant men and women police officers, firefighters and emergency medical personnel who were willing to risk their lives to save others. Many went into the Twin Towers; many did not come out.
Those in our communities who fight fires, rescue the injured and ill and protect us from crime deserve our prayers, not only today, but every day. This is a special day for them as we pause to remember. Pray for their safety.
One way you can remember them regularly is to offer up a prayer whenever you hear a siren or see their flashing lights.
Teach me Your way, O Lord; I will walk in Your truth;
Unite my heart to fear Your name. I will praise You, O Lord my God, with all my heart, And I will glorify Your name forevermore. (Psalm 86:11-12)

Cathy Overstreet has stress cardiomyopathy
I was taken to Sentara Heart Hospital on Saturday, August 30 and diagnosed with Stress Cardiomyopathy - Broken Heart Syndrome. I came home on Thursday September 4th. My youngest daughter has been with me and my other daughter is coming tomorrow.
I won't be at church for a while and I would appreciate some prayers.
Thanks, Cathy Overstreet
The good news is that this disease is scary because it affects the heart, those with it can make a quick recovery. So please pray for Cathy's health to return soon. RL

Bend down, O LORD, and hear my prayer;
answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful, O Lord, for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord, for my life depends on you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask your aid.
Listen closely to my prayer, O LORD; hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever trouble strikes, and you will answer me.
Nowhere among the pagan gods is there a god like you, O Lord.
There are no other miracles like yours.

Balancing Prayer and Action
Author:Jim Liebelt
"Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly as I should." Colossians 4:2-4
It has been reported that seconds after the kickoff in a memorable soccer match between Corinthians and Rio Preto at Bahia Stadium in Brazil, Corinthian striker Roberto Rivelino scored a goal, after a single pass, with a left foot drive from the half line. The ball sailed past the ear of Rio Preto goalkeeper Senhor Isadore Irandir while he was kneeling in the goalmouth finishing his pre-match prayers.
Here is a reminder to seek a healthy balance between prayer and action. Prayer is the foundation of our ongoing recognition of God's rightful place in our lives and that He is our Creator and King. There is no doubt from the Scriptures that God's people are to be people of prayer. Action is our recognition that God does not primarily work His will in the world without our participation in that work.
Notice from the Scripture above that the Apostle Paul asked people to pray for an open door of opportunity. I think it is significant that in this prayer, Paul didn't ask God to somehow proclaim the good news of Jesus supernaturally - without Paul's involvement - but rather that God would provide the opportunity for Paul to minister the gospel effectively. A healthy view sees that both prayer and action are normal parts of how God works to accomplish His will.
Over my years as a Christ follower, I have experienced the tension that exists between prayer and action. It's not always easy to know where and when to move beyond prayer to action or vice versa. Perhaps like me, you know people that seem focused solely on prayer and those who seem focused solely on action. Neither of these approaches is the complete answer. It's likely that most of us need to pray more! For some, a willingness to move beyond prayer to action is needed.
I believe that each situation in our lives requires us to seek the delicate balance between prayer and action. Like the goalkeeper, I've found that there almost always comes a time when we need to get off our knees and act.
When it comes to your life's situations, what do you tend to focus more on prayer or action? Consider whether or not you need to become more balanced between prayer and action. Ask God to give you wisdom in finding the balance you need between prayer and action.
Jim Liebelt is Senior Editor of Publications for HomeWord.

Prayer Walks at our Schools
Wednesday night you're invited and encouraged to meet with others at our public schools to "prayer walk" around them. A prayer walk is just what it sounds like. You walk around, praying for the students, teachers, administration, etc. Pray for the Christians in the school to make a difference.
Our schools are in need of our prayers. Wednesday evening at 6:30 meet at the flag pole of your school. Even if you don't have a child in school, you can participate.
I'll be at one of the schools. I hope you will as well.

All of you who fear God, come and listen, and I will tell you what he has done for me.
I cried out to him with my mouth and praised him with my tongue.
If I had known of any sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened to me.
But God has listened; he has heard my prayer.
Praise God, who did not ignore my prayer or hold back his love from me.

Sharing NHC's story with others
Several years ago, as God began taking things we were learning together as a church and used them to change us into the church He desires us to be, we discovered that other churches and their leaders were curious. Rarely a week goes by when a guest (often a pastor) talks with one of us after a worship gathering about "how we do church" and why.
That led us to realize that a part of God's purpose and vision for us is to bless other churches by sharing what we've learned. Don't get me wrong - we're still on the learning curve ourselves, and we eagerly seek to discover more about His will for our part in reaching people to discover life in Christ. But we also are humbled to hear from so many that we're farther ahead on the curve than many churches who hunger for a relevant, healthy and growing church.
Monday I would appreciate your prayers as I speak to the Innovative Church Community in Burlington, NC. It's a group of church leaders from the Triad (mostly) who gather monthly to share ideas and to learn. They want to hear our story. Pray that we at NHC can be instrumental in helping other churches, not only there, but anywhere God can use us.

Hear my cry, O God; Attend to my prayer. From the end of the earth I will cry to You,
When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
For You have been a shelter for me, A strong tower from the enemy.
I will abide in Your tabernacle forever; I will trust in the shelter of Your wings.

How to organize your daily prayer time
I'm keeping a prayer journal where I write down what I'm praying and recording answers as they are given. But I had this question: Should I pray for the same things every day? I mean, 15 minutes zips by.
Well, why not organize the requests in some way so that each day you're praying for a specific "category" of requests? Robin Brooks, our missionary in New Zealand suggested something like this to us one time when she was speaking at NHC. It might be a great help to you in your daily Quiet Time. Include yourself and others in these daily prayers.
Sunday - Spiritual Growth
Monday - Financial needs
Tuesday - Church, Ministry team mates, Connection Groups, Pastors
Wednesday - Missions and outreach opportunities here and through our missionaries
Thursday - Temptation and spiritual warfare struggles
Friday - Family
Saturday - Safety and health
Do these cover everything? Obviously not. But they'll help keep you focused. And you can add special requests and praises every day.

And I said: “I pray, Lord God of heaven, O great and awesome God, You who keep Your covenant and mercy with those who love You and observe Your commandments, 6please let Your ear be attentive and Your eyes open, that You may hear the prayer of Your servant which I pray before You now, day and night..." The Glock Family - our missionaries in France

Dear NHC family,
A big praise for us right now is the way God ministered to us through the teaching of Alexander Strauch at a missionary family conference we attended at the end of August. We were renewed in our spirits and given a greater vision of who God is. God is love. We also learned more deeply of his love for us. We pray that you will be filled with the knowledge of his love.
The CEP (the French church Matt and Sylvie have been serving for the last 7 years)..
We are praising God for the arrival of Jean-Yves, our French pastor, and his wife Marie-Salomé. This is a huge step in the life of the church. Please pray for Jean-Yves as he begins his ministry that he will be filled with God's Spirit and that he will be able to discern how to serve the CEP. Pray for me in the year of transition that I would be a support and encouragement to him, able to give him the space he needs to do his job. Please remember Marie-Solomé, she's a school teacher. The good news is the French school system allowed her to transfer to our county. The bad news is she's working in a school that's 70 minute drive from Grenoble! Pray for the CEP that we as a body would grow in our love for Christ and the world around us.
The ICG (this is the English speaking church we've planted in partnership with the CEP)...
As we begin this ministry year we are looking to God to build us up so that we may be likeminded and seize the opportunities to be salt and light in France. I like to call this church an english speaking French church. Pray that we will grow in our love for each other and our love for the members of the CEP. Pray that God will provide for our needs.
The Glock's...
It's back to school here in France. Anastasia is in 9th grade, Pascal 7th and Juliet 5th! They are all well and as the Bible says, "growing in the grace and knowledge of God." We praise God for them. Please pray for them as you would pray for your own children. Could you please pray for Pascal he's been diagnosed with a scoliosis and we are seeing a specialist to better know how to treat it.
Sylvie is doing OK physically. Her chronic back pain is somewhat better. Please pray that God will bring healing. She is looking to get involved in a new ministry team that is being created from members of the churches here in Grenoble. This team will focus on how we can better minsitry to the poor and needy in our communities.
I'm doing well. I still am trying to get my thyroid medicine at the right level.
Financially things are both good and not so good... The dollar was very weak for a time and we ended up with some personal debt, on top of that our car died. On the other hand the dollar has recovered and we are no longer losing money each month. We've also been blessed by the ICG as they have helped to support us. I will be teaching two English classes at a local university this year and that will help some to relieve our debt. I need wisdom as I seek to raise some funds to help pay off the debt and buy us a car. Also I'm praying that we would be able to raise some more regular support so that we would not be dependant on the ICG.
With Christ's love,
Matt

Give ear to my words, O Lord,
Consider my meditation.
Give heed to the voice of my cry,
My King and my God,
For to You I will pray.
My voice You shall hear in the morning, O Lord;
In the morning I will direct it to You,
And I will look up. (Psalm 5:1-3)

I will lift up my eyes to the hills—From whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. - Psalm 121:1-4

Health Update from Our Missionary Robin Brooks
Dear Praying Friends,
The good news is that I continue to improve! I’ve had a pretty good week compared to the past few months. I continue to have good days and not so good days, but the good ones are more frequent. We had sunny weather for most of the week so I know that made a big difference in my recovery. I was able to attend church last Sunday and also go to the shops on Wed. & Thurs. It was encouraging to get out on my own. I’ve also been able to walk around the block a few times this week. I do find that if I go out or have too much activity beyond just getting dressed and getting my meals that I am exhausted and have a painful day afterwards. So I’m learning to plan a very quiet and restful day on either side of a day when I need to be active.
On Thurs. I went to the naturopath and he said that the three viruses and pleurisy are nearly out of my system. He feels that in another week or two they should be totally cleared. YEAH! So for another couple of weeks until these viruses clear my system, I’m just focusing on getting my strength built up, taking care of my own housework and enjoying having some visitors. My brain is starting to function again after all those harsh medications so I’m enjoying reading and studying again. Hopefully in another couple of weeks I can get back into some other aspects of ministry.
But for now God’s assignment for me is to do the work of prayer. I know that God is working. I get reports from my teammates, that God is working in people’s hearts and that people in the church are growing and changing. Those who have had to jump in and cover my responsibilities are growing in their abilities and enjoying the opportunity to serve. Mary, one of my friends from sign language class, came over to take care of my flower beds. Afterwards over a cup of tea, she told me a good friend who had just died. God opened the door for me to talk to her about life and death and the hope of eternal life that I have in Christ. It was the first time she allowed me to talk about spiritual things with her. So pray that God will allow that seed to grow in Mary’s heart and that soon she will accept Christ.
Thanks for all your prayers and cards and notes of encouragement. Bear with me a bit longer if I don’t get an answer off to you right away.
I’m praying for all of you.
God Bless,
Robin

First, I tell you to pray for all people, asking God for what they need and being thankful to him. Pray for rulers and for all who have authority so that we can have quiet and peaceful lives full of worship and respect for God. This is good, and it pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to know the truth. (1 Timothy 2:1-4 NCV)
