Day 23

Each day a new post will allow you to comment on how God is teaching you and how your focus on prayer is making a difference. Feel free to share prayer requests. If they're for another person, please have their permission before posting. And share how God is answering your prayers as well.

Let's use this daily and regularly to encourage one another!

...praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints - Ephesians 6:18

A paragraph from today's devotional found at www.blackaby.org...The topic today was "Revenge".

"Peter claimed that God is not slow about His promises to us, but He is patient and long-suffering before He brings about judgment (2 Pet. 3:9). Yet ultimately God has prepared for absolute justice. There will be no sin committed that He will leave unpunished. Either the punishment will fall on His Son or it will be charged against the sinner, but everyone will ultimately give an account for everything they have done (2 Cor. 5:10)."

Lord, help us to realize that our responsibility is to forgive and to leave vengeance and justice up to You.

I have been praying these past 3 weeks, as I always do, for our church's leaders. This morning I prayed for the followers. As wise, talented, loving and inspired as NHC's leaders are, their fruit will stop blossoming if we don't take what they teach and model for us and let it change our hearts.

What better time to be learning about radical generosity than in these hard economic times? Wouldn't it be easy to be generous if we were all raking in the income and finding low prices in the stores and at the gas pumps? Who would even notice? It takes God's power to make us generous when it is obvious to those around us that it's not easy. When we give generously of our time, talents and money out of love for God and a desire to follow His Word, this is what will bring about change in our community.

I pray that the people of NHC will be faithful to take what we learn and let it change us throughout the week and throughout our walk.

Our Monday Night Ladies Too Connection Group had an awesome time last night. We are using "Prayer: Does it make a difference?" to encourage and enrich our prayer life. I have been learning so much from the insights of the author and my sisters in Christ. Tricia visited our group last night and shared her prayer experience over the last year and how God taught her to pray for His will, not hers. We ended our special evening by praying for the woman beside us--what a blessing that was! I hope everyone at NHC is involved in a group of caring, committed Christ followers as we journey through these 40 days together.
